How2Hair…101 Workshops
Bridging the gap of cultural differences 1 plait at a time through interactive textured hair care education
Our Workshop Program
Our workshops focus on dismantling negative connotations attached to Black hair care, challenging myths that it is "unprofessional," "ugly," "doesn't grow," or that Black individuals are "born with innate knowledge" of how to care for it.
Workshop Structure
- 4 sessions of 3 hours each
- Spread over a calendar month
- Face-to-face and online options
- Take-home goody bag on session 4
What's Included
- Training hairdressing doll for practice
- Hands-on practical sessions
- Homemade deep conditioner to take home
- Literature, guides, and freebies
Who Should Attend?
Our workshops are specifically designed for parent(s)/carer(s) of vulnerable Black children (full and mixed) who:
- • Are of a different ethnicity to their child
- • Feel they lack the basic skills needed to maintain their child's hair
- • Work in hospitals, foster homes, and other vulnerable spaces
- • Want to help children form a positive sense of self and worth
